Family
I was born and raised in Jamaica West Indies by two of the most dedicated parents one can have. Being the fourth of nine children, my position often allowed me to take on some responsibilities of caring for my younger siblings.
We worked, played, ate and most of all worshipped together. Very early in the mornings before day- break our father would awake us, and we gathered together for worship. He would lead out in singing one or two songs from a hymnal and then read from a small book he received at the church. This book was handed out at every quarter, and had a section for every day. It is very informative and factual.
The book had many questions that referred the reader to the bible to find the answers. My eldest sister was the only one of us who could read at that time. Therefore, my father asked her to use the bible to find the answers to the questions. He would start this routine with us children as early as three to four years old even though we could not read at that age.
However, when he was finished reading from the little book, as young as we were, we had to tell him in one sentence of something that we learnt. My parents being Christians, instilled a lot of worthy values into us. For example, they taught us not to fight, or call each other names, etc. One of the values I will never forget is my father’s counsel. He said, “if you have a choice to tell a lie or die then choose death”.
Bible as Guide
Revelation 21:8 said, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Yes! back in the days we had no television in our home, so we received all the fine influences of our parents as we worshipped, worked and played games together. Our favorite game was one similar to chess.
We always ate breakfast and dinner together, as a family. During those times father would relay many stories of his past, and day to day happenings. May God continue to bless him and mother. Those precious times spent together as a family allowed us to have a unique bond even to this day.
Education
My early childhood education was at Sherwood Forest All Age School which consisted of grades one to nine. After completion at age fourteen I went to Happy Grove High school where I was placed in the third form. Within two consecutive years I was promoted to the highest levels of the fourth and fifth forms.
High school was located about nineteen miles from my home, so I got the opportunity to live with my eldest brother and Marjorie Afflict. At a later date, I went to live with my aunt Dorothy Reid and her family. Those three short years in high school made an impact on me which prepared me for college. So, after graduating from high school I went to West Indies College, which is now Northern Caribbean University.
Higher Education
Those years in College did not only afford me a higher education, but (like my own brothers and sisters) I formed bonds with friends, which we still cherish to this day. While in college I studied Business Administration, focusing on accounting. Why Business Administration? because my cousin Ken Johnson (now deceased) advised me in that line. However, it is said experiences teach wisdom.
Four years following my graduation from college, God blessed me with the opportunity to go to Uchee Pines Institute in Seale Alabama USA. That was for me an Ebenezer experience. I met some of the most wonderful people on earth many of them are now deceased. They were an extension of my family. We worked, ate, hiked, studied and most of all worshiped together.
Health Institution
I learnt how to do missionary work at Uchee Pines, how to treat various diseases with natural remedies, and following a plain simple diet is more healthful than a rich mixture. I also learnt about the eight laws of health, which if followed will not only prevent many diseases but can cure them.
Ms. Glen, who was a former medical student from Loma Linda School of Medicine, taught me a lot. She told us that she came to Uchee Pines to do her internship, but fell in love with the knowledge, and the place that she never returned to Loma Linda.
Some of my Instructors were, Dr. Strachen, Dr. Agatha Thrash, Dr. Calvin Thrash (now deceased), Dr. Horsley, Dr. Miller, and Mr. Champen was spiritual guide.
Beautiful Experience
People from all over the world came to Uchee Pines for health reasons and their health spring back. I love not only the people at Uchee Pines, but the very place which offers peace and tranquility. Never never would I exchange the experiences gained at Uchee Pines for anything else in this sinful world. Hopefully, we will all meet again in glory.
While at Uchee Pines, I attended Columbus States University pursuing what I always wanted to be, an educator. My experiences at this university was very unique. This was my first experience with evolution and Darwin’s theory.
My faith and confidence rest in The Almighty God who is the Great I AM, The Prince of Peace, The Almighty Father who was slain before the foundation of the world. I rest my faith in The Word, and what He said He means and will be coming back soon and very soon.
Married
About one year before graduation from Columbus States University, my friend, Hutson Carter, and I got married. He too is quite unique, and I will not exchange our experiences which we are still building for anything else.
Charge
Despite these experiences, my faith is still anchored in the Word of God. It is my hope and desire that all His sheep will hear His voice and return to Him. It is also my hope and desire that all who listen to these videos or come to this site will draw closer to God, through Jesus Christ.
